Our Story
With the idea of a space where people could come together and have a great time, we started as a small studio in the attic that included engaging hands-on activities. The positive response led us naturally into a search for good coffee, teas, and the right choice of food. Our aim was to create a space that keeps the child within us, alive – laughing, interacting, and having fun.
The Werkx Café is an expression of our passion for human synergy. A place of creative inspiration where people can chill, relax, and have a wonderful time – good treats, great coffee, and fun-loving company; and if you wish, choose from a range of creative activities that we offer.
We believe that strong bonds are made by healthy interactions over good coffee and a happy palate, while creative indulgence, acts of kindness, and a smile add the right flavour.
About The Founder
I grew up in a military environment and my father, an Airforce pilot, although strict was fun to spend time with. I had his full support when I chose to embark on a seafaring career where, in due course, I rose to the position of Captain.
Working at sea gave me the opportunity to travel around the world and meet with people of different backgrounds and cultures. I also tasted different cuisines and of course, coffees. It was here that I developed my deep love for coffee.
Like everyone, I faced my share of challenges along the way. They were like the exams at school; tests before allowing me to advance in life. I learnt that little acts of kindness or often just a smile boosted my confidence and hands-on activities helped me manage my emotions in a positive way.
I choose to enjoy and relish every moment of my life – after all, we live only once.
